Spotlight on Damian Lillard:

The savvy point guard is off to a terrific start, entering Sunday’s games ranked seventh in the NBA in scoring (25.2 points per game) while adding 5.7 rebounds, 6.5 assists and 1.1 steals per game. He is the NBA’s 12th-most efficient player and hit a dramatic game-winning 3-pointer against the Los Angeles Lakers earlier this season. Combine Lillard with CJ McCollum —  who averages 22.9 points, 4.3 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game  — and the Trail Blazers boast one of the most dynamic backcourt duos in the league.

Nuggets: Denver has won seven of its last nine games following an impressive 5-1 homestand, but is 2-3 in road contests … Second-year point guard Jamal Murray is coming a career performance against the Orlando Magic, setting personal bests in both points (32) and 3-pointers (six) … Starting shooting guard Gary Harris, who missed the Magic game with right shoulder soreness, is listed as questionable to play against Portland. If Harris is out again, stepping into the starting lineup will be Will Barton, who set season highs in points (26) and rebounds (nine) in that role against Orlando … Nikola Jokic has recorded a double-double in five of his last six games and entered Sunday ranked seventh in the NBA in efficiency (27.5) … Entering Sunday, Denver ranked in the top 15 in the league in both scoring offense (107.6 points per game) and scoring defense (105.2 points per game).

Trail Blazers: Portland is 2-4 in games decided by four points or less … The Trail Blazers entered Sunday leading the NBA in rebounding (48.3 per game) and ranked fifth in 3-point percentage (38.5) … Forward Al-Farouq Aminu has been ruled out for Monday’s game with a sprained ankle … The Blazers rank fourth in defensive rating (100.5) and sixth in scoring defense (100.7), a surprise given that team’s struggles on that end of the floor in recent years.
